Exercise during pregnancy is one way you can help yourself stay in shape for the big day. It can elevate your mood and give you the  extra energy you will need to get through the day.

As any mom will tell you, labor takes a lot of energy and strength and while it is never easy, the fitter you are, the better you will manage and your recovery will probably be quicker also.

Finding which pregnancy workout is right for you can be a little challenging if you jump right in without any fore thought.

Consider your usual workout and choose a program that parallels your normal regime. Exercise during pregnancy shouldn’t have to be an ordeal but should be beneficial.

Many pregnant moms swear by walking. Nothing is more enjoyable than taking a brisk walk through the park or  your neighborhood. Walking is considered an ideal exercise during pregnancy and many find that they can work out comfortably right up until my delivery date.

My neighbor had another approach to fitness. She jogged at least three times each week. I thought that she wouldn’t continue this kind of exercise during pregnancy but I was mistaken. My neighbor continued her jogging routine right up until the last month of her pregnancy. After that, she slowed down to walk with slow pokes like me.

There are times however when outdoor exercise is just not a viable option. Cold, wet weather or very hot conditions can be detrimental to a woman who is trying to exercise during pregnancy so these weather extremes should be avoided wherever possible as you can seriously put yourself and your baby at risk for injury or illness if you work out in unsafe conditions.

Bringing the pregnancy workout indoors is often the best option and there are many ideas for getting in your exercise during pregnancy without stepping out of your front door. The treadmill is one of the most sought after indoor workout items.

If you look around you can pick these up quite cheaply from a friend or relative that has had a recent pregnancy. With a treadmill You can recreate the feeling of a nice outdoor walk without going outside.

While jogging and walking are fine for some people, these activities just will not be on every woman’s top ten. Some people prefer more softer and gentler activities like yoga or Pilates.

Fortunately, there are videos that help you get this kind of exercise during pregnancy as well.
